1 Different supporting structures:
A vertical machining center is a type of machining center in which the spindle axis is positioned perpendicular to the worktable. The X and Y axes are combined in a vertical configuration, while the Z axis moves up and down along the column. This type of machine is well-suited for machining small, precision molds and parts. Larger vertical machining centers typically measure around 4 meters in length; the specific model can be determined based on the actual workpiece to be processed.
A gantry machining center is a type of machining center in which the spindle axis is positioned perpendicular to the worktable. The Z-axis support structure of the gantry differs from others: the Y-axis spans horizontally between the two upright columns, thereby increasing the worktable’s load capacity and machining range.
2 — Different uses:
The gantry machining center is primarily suited for machining large-sized parts. The vertical machining center is mainly used for machining complex parts such as plates, disks, molds, and small shell-type components.
Apart from these two differences, the features of vertical machining centers are even more distinct:
1 Environmentally friendly and pollution-free: During use, no oil stains or mist are emitted, protecting the surrounding environment.
2 Precise oil supply: By adding a regulating valve, oil can be delivered to lubrication points such as the spindle and lead screw according to different requirements.
3 Wide applicability: There is no difficulty in atomizing high-viscosity lubricating oil mist.
4 Automatic detection and monitoring: The system can detect whether the lubricating oil is functioning properly. If lubrication is inadequate, it will trigger an alarm and shut down the machine, preventing abnormal operation of the equipment.
5 Particularly suitable for spindle rolling bearings, these bearings offer a certain air-cooling effect, which can reduce the operating temperature of the bearings and thereby extend the service life of the spindle.
6 Low fuel consumption, saving costs.
